MARQUES DE CASA CONCHA DINNER

The Topaz team pulled out all the stops on Tuesday 25th of October for a special four-course dinner celebrating the 40th Anniversary of one of the core fine-wine labels produced by one of the world’s most recognised New World winemakers.

Marques de Casa Concha was launched in 1976, with a cabernet sauvignon that has gone on to become regarded as one of the best New World wines in its class. This rich, full-bodied wine that lingers long in the mouth has consistently attracted high marks, awards and accolades over the years, not just for the quality of the wine, but also for the supreme value for money that it represents. You’ll find the cabernet sauvignon from 2014, one of the most highly rated years, on the Topaz wine list.

On the 25th, we were pleased to pair it with roast milk fed leg of lamb, scented with thyme and rosemary, and served with baked young potatoes. Diners could also choose the spicier flavours of the Marques de Casa Concha Carmenere if they wished.

But that, of course, was not all. The evening got off to a sparkling start with a delicate sea bass spiced up with chorizo and a capsicum sauce, with added bubbles from the Devil’s Collection from Casillero del Diablo, one of Concho y Toro’s most widely recognised labels.

This was followed by gloriously rich roast scallops topped with an earthy foie gras and mushroom sauce, accompanied with a celery puree. The team selected the Marques de Casa Concha chardonnay to compliment these complex flavours, a wine that was more than up to the job. As with their cabernet sauvignon, Marques de Casa Concha’s chardonnays have consistently received top marks and awards recognising the quality of this rich, fruity, characterful wine. The 2012 edition was selected by Decanter as one of the best Chardonnays in the World.

We would like to thank Celliers d’Asie for their priceless support in putting together this event.
